Washington, D.C. – Senate Democrats UNANIMOUSLY voted to allow colleges and universities to discriminate against Asian American students. Every single Senate Democrat – including Raphael Warnock and Catherine Cortez Masto – rejected a proposal from Sens. Ted Cruz and John Kennedy that would stop taxpayer funds from going to higher learning institutions that discriminate against Asian American students during the recruitment, applicant review, and admissions process.

What’s more? This amendment would have been attached to legislation combatting Asian American discrimination. The Democrat Hypocrisy Meter is off the charts today.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “Every single Senate Democrat voting against holding colleges and universities accountable for discriminating against Asian American students sends a dangerous message to the very people their legislation aims to protect. This common-sense amendment would have gone further to protect Asian Americans from wrongful discrimination by refusing to send taxpayer dollars to colleges and universities that continue their discriminatory practices. It’s incredibly hypocritical for Democrats to oppose Asian American discrimination while continuing to fund institutions that participate in anti-Asian discrimination.”
