Washington, DC – Joe Biden’s nominee for Interior Secretary – Deb Haaland – wants to eliminate fracking on federal lands, and just like her boss’s decision to cancel the Keystone Pipeline, this would hurt thousands of hard-working Americans, including many in Colorado.

Colorado ranks sixth in oil production on public lands, but ranks low on Haaland’s list of priorities as she states, she is “wholeheartedly against fracking and drilling on public lands.”

A recent study shows that between 2021 and 2024 the impact of the administration’s energy policies would cost Colorado:

  • 5,172 jobs each year
  • $546 million in tax revenue to the state
  • $3.3 billion in GDP
  • $1.6 billion in wages

It’s time for Michael Bennet to put the interests of Colorado first instead of Joe Biden and Senate Democrats’ radical environmental agenda that will put thousands of hard-working Coloradans’ jobs at risk.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman Chris Hartline: “Michael Bennet, a failed presidential candidate, has a record of flip-flopping on issues depending on the political winds. He claims to oppose fracking, but now he’ll have an opportunity to put his money where his mouth is. Will Bennet continue to oppose a fracking ban and side with Coloradans, or will he do Chuck Schumer’s bidding and support Deb Haaland’s nomination? Hard-working Coloradans who rely on good-paying energy jobs will be watching.”
