In the latest news on Joe Manchin’s shady hotel deal, a federal judge has dismissed the company’s bankruptcy petition after its failure to obtain workers compensation insurance.

But more troubling are revelations about a lender’s allegation of a missing $1 million in cash from Manchin’s company. U.S Bank National Association alleges that Mountain Blue Hospitality failed to pay over $400,000 in franchise fees, $125,000 in insurance, $20,000 in taxes and close to $500,000 in debt charges, prevented any cash from being deposited in the lock box for two months, and has no explanation for what happened to close to $1 million in cash. Joe Manchin owes West Virginia an explanation of his involvement in this tax evading business, and must answer questions about its finances.

“It was already clear that something was amiss with Joe Manchin’s shady hotel business, but new allegations of a missing $1 million in cash cannot be ignored,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Joe Manchin must stop hiding and answer questions about his hotel company, pay the taxes it owes, and come clean about his involvement in an increasingly questionable business.”
