The Democrats’ failure of a campaign to confirm a liberal judge and tip the balance of the Supreme Court in their favor without hearing from voters reaches a new low today: They’ve flown in registered Democrats and MoveOn.org protestors from Iowa and called them “former Chuck Grassley supporters.”
Given Patty Judge’s status as the handpicked candidate of the Washington Democrat establishment, it’s not terribly surprising her biggest backers are holding a stunt press conference in D.C. today on her behalf.
And today’s events make even more sense after Judge’s performance at the Des Moines Register editorial board yesterday, where she made it clear that she’s taking her marching orders straight from Washington.

Judge might be a hit with the D.C. insider circuit, but it’s no wonder why she has little support in Iowa – even struggling to gain traction among grassroots Democrats who aren’t fond of Washington hand-picking their Senate candidate. With answers like these, it’s not surprising she’s afraid to talk to Iowa voters.
