Just as the fall campaign is heating up, Joe Manchin’s shady hotel scandal is rearing its ugly head again.

Metro News reports that the West Virginia state Tax Department has withdrawn from the federal lawsuits against Manchin’s hotel companies to pursue the $1.2 million owed in unpaid taxes by other means, including a local lawsuit. Manchin has gone silent on his involvement in the shady hotel deal after getting caught lying to reporters several times on the matter.

“Since Joe Manchin refuses to come clean on his shady, tax-evading hotels, maybe a fresh lawsuit to collect the $1.2 million in unpaid taxes he owes will do the trick,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Manchin’s had no problem bashing President Trump’s tax cut for working West Virginians, but when it comes to his failure to pay his own taxes, Manchin offers nothing but silence.”
