Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, President Biden called off negotiations with Republicans in part because of his refusal to forego raising taxes, but also because that was the plan all along.  President Biden and Senate Democrats planned to pretend to work with Republicans, then push a massive, ultra-liberal bill through the Senate using reconciliation.

We know the Democrat foot-dragging is intentional not only because senior Democrat Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) said so on a hot mic, but also because President Biden is held captive by the far-Left of his party and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is scared of a primary from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

The socialist Left of the Democrat Party has been bullying Biden and Schumer on every issue from the “Corrupt Politicians Act” to the filibuster, and it is putting strain on the vulnerable Democrats who have, up until now, been loyal soldiers.  Now, the President is willing to scuttle infrastructure reform – which has bipartisan interest – in an effort to appease the Left and deliver on tax hikes.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “The political theatrics of the Biden Administration and Senate Democrats are getting out of control.  Joe Biden was always going to abandon bipartisan negotiations because it’s what the radical liberals that control the Democrats’ agenda want.  Senators like Maggie Hassan, Mark Kelly, Raphael Warnock, and Catherine Cortez Masto will need to decide what is more important: infrastructure or support from the socialist wing of their party?”
