Pennsylvania’s new aggressive progressive, Senator Bob Casey, announced that he would join his fellow Washington liberals and vote to shut down the federal government, endangering funding for national security and other critical federal programs.
Casey’s pledge to shut down the government also jeopardizes health care for Pennsylvania children, as this week’s funding bill also contains a six-year extension of the popular CHIP program. Just last week, Casey accused Republicans of playing games, and called for CHIP to be passed “now,” only play his own political games and announce his vote to rip health insurance away from children for the sake of partisanship.
“By announcing his vote to shut down the federal government and end health insurance funding for children, Bob Casey is making clear that he is not the centrist he pretended to be to get elected,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Casey’s unconscionable decision to play partisan games with national security and children’s health care shows he is unfit to represent Pennsylvania.”
