Washington, D.C. – The Biden Administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal has been a disaster. Everyone knows it. Floridians want accountability. And where is Val Demings? On the wrong side, as always.

Last week, she accused Senator Rubio of playing “Monday morning quarterback” on Afghanistan. This week, Demings shamefully became an apologist for Biden and his botched withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.

Of course, Senator Rubio has been right all along and predicted the disaster that’s unfolded over the last few weeks. Last November, Senator Rubio wrote a prescient op-ed, insisting our troops must be brought home “the right way.”

“The threats facing our nation and our allies from those who wish to do us harm are real. If we prematurely pull our U.S. forces out from Afghanistan — or if we conduct the process too quickly — we risk putting our servicemembers in harm’s way, and the actual Afghan government will collapse in short order. They are already struggling to hold on as it is, given the threat and challenge from the Taliban.”

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Priscilla Ivasco: “Marco Rubio has been warning about the threat from a rushed Afghanistan withdrawal for almost a year. It’s not surprising that Val Demings is criticizing Senator Rubio for being right, since she’s been wrong about everything. Demings doesn’t have the courage to criticize her own party’s leader for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, but is happy to criticize Marco Rubio for his prescient warnings about the threats we face. Floridians deserve better than a Washington puppet more interested in politics than protecting Americans.”
