Democrats try to point fingers after taking credit for lower pump prices earlier this year

Washington, D.C. – Democrats were trying to take credit when gas prices were decreasing early this year, in spite of their reckless spending and anti-American energy agenda. And now that they’re back on the rise? Let the blame game begin.

According to the Washington Post: “The price hikes are substantial in several pivotal states. In California, where there are at least eight hotly contested House seats, the average price of gas is $6.38 per gallon, an increase of 62 cents in the past week. During the same period, it jumped nearly 40 cents in the swing state of Arizona, where polling averages reflect an extremely tight race for governor.

“Nevada, Washington, Oregon and Alaska have all seen prices jump by at least 40 cents per gallon in the past week. Throughout the swing states of the Midwest, the increase has been less severe, but large enough for drivers to feel the pain.”

Biden was quick to take credit for gas prices when they were decreasing during his remarks to the Democratic National Committee: “And we’re making progress on global inflation caused by the pandemic and Putin’s war in Ukraine.  Gas prices are down over a dollar since we started this effort.”

In September, he attempted to suggest that the “Inflation Reduction Act” was to credit for the lower prices, “Gas prices are still way too high, and have fallen 25 days in a row. And this week we saw the second largest single day decrease in gas prices in a decade. We still have a lot of work to do … But I am suggesting we are making significant progress. The program is working.”

But now as prices are trending upwards again, the administration is pointing fingers at big oil. “As prices at the pump trend up nationwide, the Biden administration is scrambling to shelter Democrats from consumer frustration, laying blame on oil company opportunism and threatening new restrictions on the industry.”

The weak leadership by the Biden Administration and Democrats won’t go unnoticed by American families across the country who are paying the price for the Dems’ anti-American energy agenda. From day one of President Biden’s term, Democrats have launched a war against America’s energy independence. They scrapped the Keystone XL pipeline, stymied fracking nationwide, banned responsible drilling in certain domestic locations, and have intentionally slow-rolled a number of energy-producing projects, all in the name of severely wounding the oil and gas industry. They may want to blame energy producers, but their record shows their radical decisions are the cause of the price hikes.
