Washington, D.C – The Senate may be stuck in Washington for the beginning of August, but many Senate Democrats may prefer to keep it that way. Across the country, working Americans are voicing their frustration at Democrats about inflation and how it affects their families.

“As a mom of three, I’m pretty sure that shoes, clothes and Cinnamon Toast Crunch aren’t gonna magically get cheaper next year,” said ultra-liberal Katie Porter to a crowd in Orange County, California. And she’s right. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell told Americans to brace for longer-than-usual inflation.  According to a Morning Consult/Politico poll, the majority of Americans blame President Biden for the spike in inflation. These numbers match similar polling conducted by the NRSC.

The Democrats’ top Iowa Senate recruit (who announced today that she’s declining to run against Chuck Grassley) put the Democrats’ position on inflation much more succinctly: “I’m not concerned.”

Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are preparing to vote for a $5 trillion spending bill from Bernie Sanders that will undoubtedly exacerbate the economic conditions that are causing such massive inflation. It’s unclear whether Democrats can muster the votes to pass Bernie Sanders’ socialist tax and spending spree, but Chuck Schumer, afraid of AOC’s wrath, will force his caucus to walk the plank.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “Chuck Schumer is about to make life miserable for senators in his caucus as they prepare to return home this month after voting to add to the inflation crisis. Many will no doubt try to hide from tough questions, but the facts will be impossible to hide from.  As Americans are paying more for daily goods, Democrats voted to make it worse.”
