Arizonan Republic: Biden’s border bungle won’t play well for Sen. Mark Kelly
“Opinion: The crisis at the border could be the Republicans’ best shot at retaking control of Congress. Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly, who must stand for re-election next year, could be in for a rough ride.

While Democrats are busy insisting that what’s going on at the nation’s southern border isn’t a crisis – it is, they say, a “challenge” – Republicans are counting the days until midterm elections because of the …

Yeah, border crisis.

It’s what happens when you put out the welcome mat, whether you intended to or not.

Since the election of President Joe Biden, illegal border crossings have skyrocketed. February saw 100,000 detentions, a 28% increase over the previous month and more than three times the number of people caught crossing into the country illegally in February 2020.

The numbers are expected to jump again in March, with more than 4,000 apprehensions a day, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Meanwhile, small towns in southern Arizona are being advised by the U.S. Border Patrol to prepare for the release of hundreds of asylum-seeking immigrants into their communities.

“We can barely afford to take care of the people that we have here and our community now,” Gila Bend Mayor Chris Riggs told Fox News on Monday, “and as of this second, the Border Patrol advised us that they’re going to drop people off here and do sort of like: ‘They’re your problem.’”

Actually, they’re President Joe Biden’s problem, and by extension, Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly’s problem. […]

Meanwhile, [Biden’s] proposed immigration reforms that would grant legal status and eventual citizenship to undocumented immigrants.

And what? He didn’t think all that would prompt a wholesale break for the border?

He didn’t have a plan already in place to deal with the inevitable chaos that comes with thousands of people showing up at the border every day?
