Heidi Heitkamp has been quick to decry the influence of out-of-state money in North Dakota politics, but that’s not stopping her from heading to Philadelphia today to raise cash from the coastal elite.
Heitkamp is set to attend a fundraiser hosted by Represent PAC, a progressive organization focused on electing liberals like Elizabeth Warren. Thus far, Heitkamp has been relying on donations from places completely at odds with North Dakota’s values. Last quarter, Heitkamp raised 97% of her campaign cash from outside North Dakota, and Heitkamp’s out-of-state donors seems to be holding quite a bit of sway with the Senator. Heitkamp has continued to stand with liberal Democrats to block President Trump’s agenda. Just last week she voted to deny North Dakota families and businesses a much-need tax cut.
“The liberal donors funding Heidi Heitkamp’s campaign stand in direct opposition to North Dakota’s values,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “Instead of hobnobbing with the coastal elite, Heitkamp should be back home explaining why she folded to the demands of her liberal donors and voted against cutting North Dakotans’ taxes.”
