When asked by a panelist to respond to the observation that his infamous blindfold ad is “an insult to the intelligence of Missourians,” Kander replied with the patently false line, “I support the Second Amendment.”

Hang on. What?

Throughout his political career, Kander has repeatedly stood against the Second Amendment, sided with gun control advocates, and earned an F rating from the NRA, making him a “true enemy of gun owners’ rights.”

Maybe Kander has realized that his radical ideology and his unapologetic support for Hillary Clinton’s agenda makes him wildly out of touch with Missouri values. But unfortunately for Kander, saying he’s a Second Amendment supporter doesn’t make it true. He’s been a gun control sympathizer his entire career – and no amount of last-minute spin is going to change that.

BACKGROUND: Jason Kander Has Consistently Voted Against Protecting The Second Amendment

In 2016, Kander Received A An “F” Rating From The NRA. (NRA-PVF Political Victory Fund Website, Accessed 9/30/16)

During Kander’s 2012 Secretary Of State Bid, He Received An “F” Rating From The NRA. “…GOP secretary of state nominee Shane Schoeller and state Treasurer hopeful Cole McNary all were endorsed by the NRA. . . . Other Democrats didn’t fare as well as Koster. Gov. Jay Nixon received a ‘B-‘ rating, state Treasurer Clint Zweifel nabbed a ‘C,’ Democratic secretary of state candidate Jason Kander got a ‘F.’” (St. Louis Beacon, 10/1/ 12)

The NRA Considers A Candidate With An “F” Grade To Be A “True Enemy Of Gun Owners’ Rights.” “True enemy of gun owners’ rights. A consistent anti-gun candidate who always opposes gun owners’ rights and/or actively leads anti-gun legislative efforts, or sponsors anti-gun legislation.” (NRA-PVF, “What The Grades Mean” Page, Accessed 1/5/15)

In 2009, Kander Voted Against Legislation That Expanded The Castle Doctrine And Concealed Carry Laws. “The House of Representatives has passed a bill that would allow licensed gun owners to carry concealed weapons on public college campuses. The bill also would lower the required age for a concealed-carry license to 21 from 23 and expand the castle doctrine, which allows for use of deadly force in the case of a break-in, to include rented properties.” (Roseann Moring, “Missouri House Passes Bill To Allow Concealed Guns On College Campus,” St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 4/18/09; Missouri House Journal, 4/16/09, Overall vote on HB 668: 105-50, Kander vote: No)

In 2010, Kander Voted Against Legislation That Would Prohibit Store Owners From Banning Guns. “Missouri businesses would have to allow properly licensed people to carry concealed guns in their parking lots under a bill approved by the House. Businesses can currently choose to ban concealed weapons on their property. House members approved the bill Thursday by a 113-40 vote.” (The Associated Press, 4/29/10; Missouri House Journal, 4/29/10, Overall vote on HB 1400: 113-40, Kander vote: No)
