Jon Tester has resorted to grandstanding about Senate procedure instead of admitting to Montana families that they are in this health care mess because of his support for Obamacare.

Tester seems to have forgotten his own actions regarding Senate procedure. Tester was the deciding vote on Obamacare, which was drafted in secret by creatively using Senate rules to ram the bill through Congress with no Republican input.

A quick trip down memory lane demonstrates Tester’s hypocrisy.

  • In 2010, Tester refused to meet with Montanans face-to-face, and ignored their phone calls and letters regarding Obamacare. [Missoulian, 5/14/10]
  • When a reporter asked Tester about constituent calls and letters opposing the law a month after he had already cast the deciding vote for Obamacare, Tester said that he had no idea what any of the 40,200 people who had contacted his office had said. [Missoulian, 5/14/10]
  • “No one bothered to record if constituents were for or against Obamacare.” [Missoulian, 5/14/10]
  • Tester said the attempts to kill the health care bill were a waste of time and taxpayer money. [Press release, 3/25/10]

If Jon Tester really wants to fix our broken health care system, his should end the partisan games and offer actual solutions to the devastation that Obamacare has caused to our health care system.

Jon Tester’s Obamacare Record:

In 2010, Sen. Jon Tester cast the deciding vote to pass Obamacare. “So maybe it’s not a surprise that Tester cast the deciding vote for Obamacare.” [Missoulian, 5/14/10]; [HR 3590, Vote 395, 12/23/09]; [HR3590, Vote 396, 12/24/10]; [HR 4872, Vote 105, 3/25/10]

Tester voted against requiring himself, Members of Congress, and the President from purchasing plans through the new health care law. [H.R. 4872, Vote 69, 3/24/10]

In January 2017, Tester said repealing health care would have a “devastating impact on Montana” and voted against repeal. [Press release, 1/11/17]

Tester has repeatedly voted against repealing all or parts of Obamacare. [S.Amdt. 184, S.Con.Res.3, Vote 22, 1/12/17]; [SA. 2328, HR 22, Vote 253, 7/26/15]; [S.3762, Vote 329, 12/3/15]; [S.Amdt.202, S.Con.Res.8, Vote 51, 3/22/14]; [S.Amdt.30, S.Amdt.26, H.R.933, Vote 34, 3/13/13]; [S.Amdt.13, S.223, Vote 9, 2/2/11]; [S.Amdt.4596, S.Amdt.4595, S.Amdt.4594, H.R.5297, Vote 231; 9/14/10]
