Joe Manchin has developed a go-to strategy for dealing with questions about the many controversies and shady dealings surrounding him: feign ignorance.

A new digital ad from the NRSC highlights some of Manchin’s greatest hits of not knowing things. From his tax-dodging hotel deals (“I don’t know”), to the identity of his campaign donors (“I don’t have any idea who gives me money”), to whether his daughter’s company should stop selling fentanyl (“I have no idea about any of the products”), Joe just doesn’t seem to know what’s happening within his orbit…at least when there’s something shady going on!

“Joe Manchin may not want to face questions about the many controversies swirling around him, but he won’t be able to hide from West Virginia voters,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “For months, West Virginians have heard about Manchin’s close relationship with fentanyl manufacturer Mylan and his shady hotel deals, and his strategy of feigning ignorance isn’t going to change that.”
