Washington, D.C. – Last night’s leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion on abortion, a clear attempt by the radical Left to undermine the institution of the Supreme Court and invite threats on Supreme Court Justices, revealed a startling new normal from the Democrat Party.
Gone is the party of “safe, legal and rare” abortions. The new Democrat Party line: taxpayer-funded, late-term abortion on demand.
Following the leak, Democrat Senators and Democrat Senate candidates almost uniformly called for eliminating the filibuster to pass the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act,” which would legalize late-term abortion up until the moment of birth.
Democrats touting the new party line include John Fetterman, who also recently stated in a debate that he does not believe there should be ANY limits on abortion, Cheri Beasley, Sarah Godlewski, Tim Ryan, and many others.
Since taking over majorities in the House and the Senate, Democrats have also been clear that they support ending the long-standing, bipartisan tradition of the Hyde and Helms amendments, which would prevent taxpayer-funded abortions, including overseas.
According to NRSC polling, 77% of Americans, including 59% of Democrats, opposed taxpayer-funded abortions overseas.
The Democrats are simply outside the mainstream of where the American people are on this issue.
