A new poll from Quinnipiac shows an increasingly tight contest in the New Jersey Senate race, with disgraced Senator Bob Menendez holding just a 43-37 lead in the blue state.
And a closer look at the poll shows even more bad news for New Jersey’s least favorite crook:
- Bob Hugin leads 37-33 among Independents
- Menendez’s image and job approval are both deep under water, at 29% favorable – 47% unfavorable and 40% approve – 47% disapprove
- The most important issue to New Jersey voters, including Independents, is “ethics in government”
- 49% of voters, including a majority of Independents and a plurality of Democrats, believe Menendez was involved in “serious wrongdoing” compared to just 16% who believe he was not
“The more New Jerseyans hear about disgraced Senator Bob Menendez’s corruption, the less they believe he should remain in the United States Senate,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Bob Menendez is a crook, and his desperate attempts to avoid talking about his bribery allegations are not working.”
