The Senate took up legislation to punish dangerous sanctuary cities yesterday, and, predictably, Heidi Heitkamp voted no. Heitkamp’s out-of-touch immigration vote is the latest in a long line of terrible choices that have left North Dakotans worse off.
Heitkamp vehemently opposed the tax cuts saving North Dakotans money, celebrated voting against restricting late term abortions, and so far, has voted against President Trump’s legislative agenda 68% of the time. In a state where she’s the only Democratic statewide office holder, Heitkamp’s loyalty to Chuck Schumer’s radical agenda has put her at complete odds with the will of North Dakota voters.
“Heidi Heitkamp’s reckless decision to stand with Washington Democrats on nearly every important issue shows she’s completely out of step with North Dakota values,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “While Heitkamp fights to curry favor with liberal donors and Washington elites, folks in North Dakota have been forced to pay the price for her failed leadership.”
