Dem Pollster Says “Shut the Hell Up” About So-Called Accomplishments, But Three-Decade Incumbent Dem Can’t Help Herself

Washington, D.C. – Politico reports that the Democrats’ message touting so-called accomplishments leads to them LOSING voters:

“[O]ne of the party’s most seasoned pollsters, Stan Greenberg … has been imploring the party to — let’s put this bluntly — shut the hell up about all the work it’s done. It’s not that voters don’t care. He says voters actively turn against Democrats when they hear it. ‘It’s our worst performing message,’ Greenberg told West Wing Playbook. ‘I’ve tested it … And that’s the test where we lost all of our leads … It said to the voters that this election is about my accomplishments as a leader and not about the challenges you’re experiencing.”

But, as reported by The Seattle Times, this is what three-decade incumbent Patty Murray did in last night’s debate:

“Democratic Sen. Patty Murray and Republican challenger Tiffany Smiley met in a combative debate Sunday night, with Murray highlighting achievements from a three-decade career … Murray, a longtime member of the Senate veterans committee, often cited specific legislation in defending herself, and asserted a record of accomplishment.

As reported by KING 5 News in Seattle, this was the response from Murray’s Republican opponent, Tiffany Smiley:

“Smiley said Murray’s answers ‘sounds like a Washington D.C. answer to me … I’ve taken on Washington D.C. and won,’ she said. ‘You’ve never taken on Washington D.C. You are Washington D.C.’”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
