Jacky Rosen just voted to both end CHIP and shut down the government, denying funding to vital government services, including critical national defense programs.

Rosen’s vote to shut down the government, and take away children’s health insurance for purely political reasons, is completely reckless. Earlier this year, Rosen said she was “outraged that Congressional inaction could result in tens of thousands of vulnerable children in Nevada losing access to health care… Nevada is among a handful of states that will be first to run out of CHIP funding.”

And yet, Rosen literally just voted against a six-year extension, jeopardizing health insurance for 68,951 Nevada children who rely on the program.

This shutdown is the result of Rosen’s partisan loyalty to Nancy Pelosi and liberals in Washington, and comes at the expense of troops, taxpayers and hardworking Americans.

“Jacky Rosen had to choose between doing what’s best for Nevada and playing partisan games, and she chose partisanship,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “By voting against extending CHIP, critical funding for our troops and programs Nevada families rely on, Rosen is once again proving that her loyalty lies with Nancy Pelosi and her liberal colleagues in Washington, not with Nevadans.”
