Washington, D.C. – Senate Democrats proved their devotion to an extreme, pro-abortion agenda by voting in support of taxpayer-funded abortions, rejecting the long-standing, bipartisan policy of the Hyde Amendment. After all, it’s how Planned Parenthood – the nation’s largest abortion provider – urged Senate Democrats to vote. They want to force every American taxpayer to fund abortions, regardless of their moral objections.
Tonight’s vote comes just days after House Democrats – including Senate hopefuls Val Demings, Conor Lamb, and Tim Ryan – also voted to eliminate the Hyde Amendment.
Democrats place a higher value on receiving campaign funds from Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby than they do protecting life.
Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Katharine Cooksey: “Senate Democrats are reversing the long-standing, bipartisan policy of the Hyde Amendment, forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions all over the country, no matter their moral objections. Instead of protecting the lives of the unborn and taxpayer money, Senate Democrats like Raphael Warnock, Catherine Cortez Masto, Mark Kelly, Maggie Hassan and Michael Bennet all chose to support the abortion lobby’s extreme anti-life agenda.”
