Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Democrats confirmed once and for all that their police are to be soft on crime. They unanimously voted against a commonsense measure from Florida Senator Marco Rubio to increase funding to combat violent crime and prevent the release of dangerous criminals.

As crime rates skyrocket across the country, there is no reason why any Senator should choose not to support the move to get tough on crime.

While they campaign across their states these next few months, vulnerable Senators like Maggie Hassan, Mark Kelly, Patty Murray, Raphael Warnock, Catherine Cortez Masto and Michael Bennet will have to answer for this vote to their constituents.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Priscilla Ivasco: “Senate Democrats’ vote today shows just how little they care about the safety and security of our communities. Fighting violent crime and ensuring violent criminals are not released into our communities shouldn’t be controversial. Americans deserve leaders who will fight to protect them and their families, not weak politicians who vote the party line no matter what.”
