Washington, D.C. – This week, a bipartisan group of Governors blasted the federal funding allocation standards laid out by House and Senate Democrats in their pork-filled $2 trillion stimulus bill.
In the so-called “COVID relief” package, bailout money is provided to states based on the unemployed population rather than the actual population. This tricky method of allocation punishes states that did not take draconian COVID measures that destroyed their economies. In other words, it’s a bailout for blue states like Nancy Pelosi’s California and Chuck Schumer and Andrew Cuomo’s New York.
Two of the states that will get ripped off the most in this bill are Georgia and New Hampshire. In fact, Georgia stands to lose a staggering $1.274 billion while New Hampshire will lose $233 million!
Although their states are getting taken to the cleaners, and only 9% of the bill goes toward actual COVID relief and 1% toward vaccines, Senators Raphael Warnock and Maggie Hassan are proudly standing by the bill.
Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “The so-called ‘COVID-19 relief’ bill offers anything but relief unless of course, you live in the most liberal states in the country. Senators Warnock and Hassan are willing to surrender over $1.5 billion of tax money from their states’ taxpayers alone to appease the most radical factions of their party and bail out Andrew Cuomo. It’s clear that Senators Warnock and Hassan are taking their marching orders from Washington Democrats, and their states are paying the price.”
