Democrats Preparing Attacks on Scorekeeper They’ve Once Called “Widely-Respected” to Push Tax-and-Spending Spree

Washington, D.C. – Democrats are in a panic as their tireless efforts to lie to the American public is coming to a screeching halt. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is set to release their score on President Biden’s “Build Back Broke” spending package, and it looks like the numbers won’t be in the Democrats’ favor.

But just like with the filibuster, Democrats are only in favor of something when it benefits them. Now they’re putting a target on the CBO’s back as it potentially discredits their latest lies that the reckless spending package costs $0.

Here is how Democrats once felt about the CBO:

  • In February 2021, President Biden had no problem with the Congressional Budget Office when he cited their report while defending The American Rescue Plan.
  • In August 2010, then-Vice President Biden emphasized the CBO is “Congress’s top watchdog” and “widely-respected on both sides.”
  • In 2018, Catherine Cortez Masto cited the Congressional Budget Office in the Weekly Democrat Address.
  • In June 2017, Bernie Sanders tweeted the “CBO Analysis” proves why a GOP bill “should not see the light of day.”
  • In June 2017, Maggie Hassan cited the “nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office” in remarks on the Senate floor.
  • In May 2017, Richard Blumenthal described the CBO as a “non-partisan, fact-based score.”
  • In May 2017, Chuck Schumer criticized “Trump Care” and described the CBO as the final arbiter: “The non-partisan scorekeepers have spoken loudly and clearly.”

Here is how they feel now:

Per The New York Times: The White House has begun bracing lawmakers for a disappointing estimate from the budget office, which is likely to find that the cost of the overall package will not be fully paid for with new tax revenue over the coming decade. Senior administration officials are urging lawmakers to disregard the budget office assessment, saying it is being overly conservative in its calculations, failing to properly credit the return on investment of additional I.R.S. resources and overlooking the deterrent effects that a more aggressive tax collection agency would have on tax cheats.

“In this one case, I think we’ve made a very strong empirical case for C.B.O. not having an accurate score,” Ben Harris, Treasury’s assistant secretary for economic policy, said. “The question is would they rather go with C.B.O. knowing C.B.O. is wrong, or would they want to target the best information they could possibly have?”

Looks to us like the Biden administration is flip-flopping to maintain their party’s lie.

Democrats now want to attack and tarnish the legitimacy of the Congressional Budget Office, but the numbers will speak for themselves. Will Senate Democrats like Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, Catherine Cortez Masto, Mark Kelly, and Michael Bennet or Senate hopefuls like Val Demings, Tim Ryan and Conor Lamb play along and continue to deny the fact that their reckless socialist wish list is dangerous for the economy and will only hurt American families?
