When asked about the payment yesterday, Murphy punted by saying he wanted to get back to Washington to learn more about it.

Last summer, Murphy offered his support for the Iran deal, which was lauded by President Obama as “an opportunity to move in a new direction.”
But reports in the Wall Street Journal indicate that not only did the Obama administration send ransom money to the Iranian government, but it overruled the objections of the Justice Department to do so:
“Senior Justice Department officials objected to sending a plane loaded with cash to Tehran at the same time that Iran released four imprisoned Americans, but their objections were overruled by the State Department, according to people familiar with the discussions…The timing and manner of the payment raised alarms at the Justice Department, according to those familiar with the discussions.” (Devlin Barrett, “Justice Department Officials Raised Objections On U.S. Cash Payment To Iran,” Wall Street Journal, 8/3/16)
Instead of avoiding the issue, Murphy owes Floridians an answer for his support of the disastrous nuclear agreement which has clearly only emboldened the Iranian regime.
-
Does the President’s “new direction” mean trading cash for hostages with a state sponsor of terrorism?
-
Why is Iran’s foreign minister extolling his country’s ability to restore its nuclear program within just a few years?
-
Why does the Iranian government continue to take Americans hostage?
- And why did the Obama administration admit it lied to the public to push the deal through?
Just like he can’t run from his bogus resume, Murphy can’t run from this foreign policy debacle. As an Iran deal supporter, Murphy owns the predictable disaster the agreement has become.
