In a breaking report yesterday – the one-year anniversary of when Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei reaffirmed his regime’s "Death to America" slogan, the Associated Press revealed that a secret deal will halve the time his country would need to build a bomb.

As the AP added this morning, his foreign minister then "extolled" Iran’s ability to restore its nuclear program as a "matter of pride":

Iran’s foreign minister on Tuesday extolled the country’s ability to bring its nuclear program back on track as limits on the landmark 15-year accord between Tehran and world powers ease in the coming years. Mohammad Javad Zarif said a document, submitted by Iran to the International Atomic Energy Agency and outlining plans to expand Iran’s uranium enrichment program, is a “matter of pride.” He said it was created by Iran’s “negotiators and industry experts” and that even foreign media have noted Iran is likely to strive for restoring its full enrichment after 10 years.

The boilerplate statements issued by Democrat Senate candidates last fall attributed their support of Barack Obama’s deal with the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism – and thus their willingness to defy the American people, to the agreement’s alleged capacity to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon:

  • Michael Bennet: "My conclusion is that the JCPOA is more likely to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon than the plausible alternatives. For that reason, I’ll vote to support the agreement."

  • Catherine Cortez Masto: "After an exhaustive review, I have come to the conclusion that the best way to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is to support this agreement."

  • Tammy Duckworth: "If implemented, the reduction of Iran’s nuclear stockpile and their enrichment capabilities will effectively shut down Iran’s nuclear program for 10 to 15 years. This will lengthen Iran’s breakout time from several months to a full year, removing its status as a nuclear threshold state."

  • Maggie Hassan: "…I’ve concluded that this imperfect agreement is the best available option to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon…"

  • Ann Kirkpatrick: "…I will support this agreement because it blocks Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon…"

  • Katie McGinty: "After very careful consideration, I am announcing my support for the International Nuclear Agreement …the best option to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon…"

  • Patrick Murphy: "…I have decided I will support this agreement as the best available option to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon."

Now, as Iran takes a victory lap for its "ability to bring its nuclear program back on track," these same Democrat Senate candidates are remaining silent:

Are they willing to join Iran’s foreign minister in extolling the dangerous consequences of their nuclear deal?
