Days after Senate Democrat candidates celebrated the one-year anniversary of Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, the Associated Press reports that a secret deal will halve the time Iran would need to build a bomb:
A document obtained by The Associated Press shows that key restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program will ease in slightly more than a decade, halving the time Tehran would need to build a bomb. The document is the only secret text linked to last year’s agreement between Iran and six foreign powers. It says that after a period between 11 to 13 years, Iran can replace its 5,060 inefficient centrifuges with up to 3,500 advanced machines. Since those are five times as efficient, the time Iran would need to make a weapon would drop from a year to six months…the program could be used for nuclear warheads.
The deal’s capacity to lengthen Iran’s breakout time was the excuse peddled by Democrat Senate candidates as they defied the American people.
Either these candidates now join Ben Rhodes as co-authors of his work of fiction aimed at actively misleading the American people or they were naive enough to believe it.
We’re not sure which is worse.
-
Michael Bennet: "My conclusion is that the JCPOA is more likely to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon than the plausible alternatives. For that reason, I’ll vote to support the agreement."
-
Catherine Cortez Masto: "After an exhaustive review, I have come to the conclusion that the best way to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is to support this agreement."
-
Tammy Duckworth: "If implemented, the reduction of Iran’s nuclear stockpile and their enrichment capabilities will effectively shut down Iran’s nuclear program for 10 to 15 years. This will lengthen Iran’s breakout time from several months to a full year, removing its status as a nuclear threshold state."
-
Maggie Hassan: "…I’ve concluded that this imperfect agreement is the best available option to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon…"
-
Ann Kirkpatrick: "…I will support this agreement because it blocks Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon…"
-
Katie McGinty: "After very careful consideration, I am announcing my support for the International Nuclear Agreement …the best option to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon…"
- Patrick Murphy: "…I have decided I will support this agreement as the best available option to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon."
