"Floridians want a Senator who shows up and fights when it matters, not just when there’s a camera." – Patrick Murphy, 7/1/16
By his own measure, Floridians don’t want Patrick Murphy.
As if it couldn’t get any worse than his decision to spend Fourth of July weekend yachting on "Cocktails" in Nantucket during the algae crisis in his own district, the Tampa Bay Times just busted Murphy for seeking "to delay news about relief for businesses affected by the toxic algae crisis so he could announce it at a news conference."
-
Associated Press: "US Senate candidate’s request creates algae stink"
-
Florida Politics: "Patrick Murphy on defense, again…This is another bad story in a series of bad weeks for Murphy and his chances of capturing the U.S. Senate this year."
-
CBS Miami: "U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy is coming under fire for seeking a delay in the opening of a center that would help businesses hurt by a massive algae outbreak."
-
Politico: "Murphy asked for delay in opening of center to help businesses hurt by algae bloom"
- TCPalm: "Murphy tried to hold announcement of lagoon help"
Patrick Murphy’s business – or lack thereof, hurt his Senate candidacy.
Now, Patrick Murphy’s Senate candidacy is hurting businesses.
The Times, citing an email from his legislative assistant, exposes Murphy’s desire to prioritize political publicity over algae disaster relief for Florida businesses:
“Rep. Patrick Murphy’s office sought to delay news about relief for businesses affected by the toxic algae crisis so he could announce it at a news conference Thursday, records show. ‘Is it possible for you to hold the announcement until Thursday and allow Congressman Murphy to announce it at a press conference?’ Murphy’s legislative assistant wrote in an email Monday to an official at the Small Business Administration.”

In the event that Team Murphy has taken a hiatus from watching CBS Miami after investigative reporter Jim DeFede informed Floridians that Privileged Patrick’s career was built on lies, allow us to flag a clip for them on the latest "embarrasing report" on his disaster candidacy.
