Last night, CBS Miami’s Jim DeFede uncovered an entire web of lies from Patrick Murphy, from his false claims about being a practicing CPA to the uncomfortable fact that Murphy never owned a small business.

Tonight’s follow-up report finds that Murphy didn’t stop there. Murphy’s claims about his time as a small business owner weren’t only false, but as Vice President of Coastal Environmental Services, Murphy also lied about his company’s work, experience, and capabilities surrounding their purported efforts to clean up after the Deepwater Horizon spill.

Murphy’s company claimed to have a cutting edge new oil cleanup technology:

“One press release, dated October 13, 2010, bragged that Coastal Environmental ‘launched a new line of oil skimming boats that promises to leave conventional skimming vessels in its wake.’ As proof, Murphy’s company repeatedly noted the vessels were tested and proven ad the highly respected research facility known as OHMSETT.”

But there was no evidence that Murphy’s boats had been tested as he claimed. In fact, the facility didn’t recognize Murphy’s boats – because they weren’t tested there.

DEFEDE: CBS 4 News provided [OHMSETT] a list of businesses either directly or indirectly related to the boat, including Coastal Environmental Services, Coastal Construction, as well as the shipyard that built the boat, Derektor. OHMSETT: There was no company here by any of those names. As far as 2010…we didn’t see that vessel. DEFEDE: Pressed for a response, the Murphy campaign now admits the Coastal Environmental Vessels were never tested at OHMSETT. CBS 4 News has learned Murphy was relying on a test from 1978, five years before he was even born, that examined part of the technology used in the skimmer.

But that’s not all. Murphy attempted to inflate his resume once again, issuing a press release claiming that Coastal Environmental specialized in a range of disaster remediation and expanded its operations in response to the Gulf oil spill. As the report notes, that’s blatantly false.

[youtube url="https://youtu.be/kiHqbuhPyvI?t=3m33s"]

“At the time the press release went out, Coastal Environmental Services had been in business less than three months – and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill was its first disaster.”

Privileged Patrick is busted once again. Between his CPA, his work history, his academic record, his small business credentials, and now the very work his own company performed, Murphy has lied at every turn. Will Privileged Patrick take responsibility? Don’t count on it.
