Jon Ossoff continues to damage his relationship with Georgia’s Jewish community, according to a new report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
This comes after the New York Times reported in February that Ossoff is losing support among Georgia’s Jewish community due to his appeasement of the pro-Hamas radicals in his party.
While Ossoff returned to Washington this week after his paternity leave, he has refused to say anything about Israel and the successful strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Instead, opting for a private email blast. What is he so ashamed of?
More from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
[AIPAC] ripped Ossoff, who was on paternity leave at the time, for not releasing a public statement supporting Israel for nearly a week after the Israel-Iran war began… Frustration, and even anger, toward Ossoff was bubbling over among some Jewish Georgians, too.
…
…Several people I spoke with reached out to Ossoff’s office in the days after the conflict began, asking that he speak out publicly in support of Israel. Instead, they were told the senator was on leave after the birth of his second child. Separately, the Ossoff campaign continued to send fundraising emails at the same time. The dichotomy left some fuming.
…
‘I was disappointed, personally and certainly as a leader. I would have liked for him not to wait so many days to say something,’ [Joshua] Heller [of Congregation B’nai Torah in Sandy Springs] said of Ossoff. ‘Just a public statement of support to know that Israel is able to defend itself.’
…
‘I am not a spokesman for the Jewish community, but I do know a lot of people. And I literally don’t know people who are not happy with the senator, except possibly my cousin’s widow, and we don’t talk about politics,’ [Larry] Auerbach [a retired lawyer in Atlanta] said.
Jon Ossoff is a pro-Trump impeachment, radical leftist who has repeatedly failed to stand up for Israel and Georgia’s Jewish community. Ossoff:
- Voted with anti-Israel extremist Bernie Sanders in voting to block arms transfers to Israel and then caved after receiving sharp criticism from Georgia’s Jewish community.
- Dragged his feet on denouncing the antisemitic terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado.
“Jon Ossoff’s weakness and repeated failures to stand up for Israel publicly when it matters most shows he cares more about appeasing the pro-Hamas radicals in his party than standing up for Georgia’s Jewish community,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.
