Radical Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib urged socialist Abdul El-Sayed to run for U.S. Senate in Michigan but has refused to publicly endorse El-Sayed, according to a new report. El-Sayed said Tlaib texted him that Michigan’s open Senate seat “looks like yours.”

Tlaib may be holding out on an official endorsement of El-Sayed, but recruiting him into the race says a lot about where she stands on the other contenders.

“The most progressive wing of the Democrat Party is rallying around Abdul El-Sayed in his messy four-way primary,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “The Michiganders that sent President Trump back to the White House will not allow Michigan’s Senate seat to be filled by someone like Abdul who will fight against everything the Trump administration is trying to accomplish for working families.”

More from Townhall:

During a recent meet-and-greet, El-Sayed revealed that Tlaib personally encouraged him to run, texting him that the open Senate seat “looks like yours.” However, she has yet to endorse him.

Tlaib’s hesitation to officially endorse El-Sayed raises questions about political strategy and how far the Democratic Party’s left wing is willing to push its agenda in a battleground state.

Like Tlaib, El-Sayed is a far-left, anti-law enforcement radical who puts illegal immigrants above American citizens. El-Sayed wants to:

  • Abolish ICE and make Michigan a sanctuary state.
  • Defund the police.
  • End cash bail.
  • End incarceration and release criminals back onto the streets.
  • Use taxpayer funds for the so-called transgender treatment of minors.
  • Allow males to use women’s bathrooms, locker rooms and spaces.
  • Abolish private health insurance.
  • Ban semi-automatic rifles.
  • End U.S. aid to Israel in their war against Iran and its proxies.

El-Sayed recently endorsed fellow socialist, Zohran Mamdani and tied himself to Mamdani’s campaign.
