Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats like Jon Ossoff just voted to shut down the federal government and abandon military families, Medicare patients, and Americans across the country who rely on critical services.
Senate Democrats have decided to inflict pain on the American people in pursuit of their radical demands that include $1.5 trillion in new wasteful spending, funding free healthcare for illegal aliens, and cutting $50 billion in funding for rural hospitals provided by the Working Family Tax Cuts. And they’re doing it to appease their radical Democrat base.
“Senate Democrats just voted for a Schumer shut down that will leave military families without pay, critical veterans’ services shuttered, and food prices higher for America’s most needy families,” said NRSC Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez. “Hard-working families in battleground states like Georgia won’t forget the pain that Democrats like Jon Ossoff inflicted on them in the hopes of restoring Biden-era free healthcare for illegal aliens.”
Schumer’s Shutdown will:
- Leave military families without pay
- Threaten vital healthcare and housing programs for veterans
- Put law enforcement lives on the line
- Jeopardize flood insurance for millions of Americans during hurricane season
- Allow funding for a critical Medicare patients’ treatment to expire
- Hurt farmers and ranchers who need certainty to produce our food
- Drive up food prices for America’s most needy families
Senate Democrats are demanding $1.5 trillion in spending increases to end the shutdown and:
- Revoke $50 billion in rural health care funding
- Restore Biden-era free healthcare for illegal aliens
- Expand taxpayer-funded Medicaid to unemployed, able-bodied individuals without dependents under 14 years old
- Eliminate Republican-passed fraud protections for taxpayer benefits like Medicaid and SNAP
