Senator Jon Husted (R-OH) voted in favor of a clean government funding bill today, standing with President Trump to keep Ohio military families paid, veterans’ services open, and law enforcement lives protected. Sherrod Brown’s (D-OH) former Senate Democrat colleagues voted to shut down the government and pushed for radical demands that include $1.5 trillion in new spending, funding free healthcare for illegal aliens, and cutting $50 billion in funding for rural hospitals provided by the Working Family Tax Cuts. In fact, a Soros family-backed group is openly pushing Senate Democrats toward a shutdown and Brown has been cashing checks from the Soros family for 20 years.
“Jon Husted is standing with President Trump and fighting to keep the federal government open for Ohio families, ensure our military service members are paid, and defend the largest rural healthcare investment in history,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “Meanwhile, Sherrod Brown would have joined his former Democrat colleagues by voting for the Schumer Shutdown so they can fight to restore Biden-era free healthcare for illegal aliens.”
Sherrod Brown is Chuck Schumer’s hand-picked Senate candidate. Schumer’s Shutdown would:
- Leave military families without pay
- Threaten vital healthcare and housing programs for veterans
- Put law enforcement lives on the line
- Allow funding for a critical Medicare patients’ treatment to expire
- Hurt farmers and ranchers who need certainty to produce our food
- Drive up food prices for America’s most needy families
- Jeopardize flood insurance for millions of Americans
Democrats are demanding $1.5 trillion in spending increases to end the shutdown and:
- Cut $50 billion in rural healthcare funding
- Restore Biden-era free healthcare for illegal aliens
- Expand taxpayer-funded Medicaid to unemployed, able-bodied individuals without dependents under 14 years old
- Eliminate Republican-passed fraud protections for taxpayer benefits like Medicaid and SNAP
