WASHINGTON, D.C. — Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats just doubled down and voted to continue the Schumer Shutdown. Chuck Schumer’s hand-picked candidate in North Carolina, Radical Roy Cooper (D-NC), is refusing to say explicitly how he would have voted, but implying he supports Schumer’s demand to fund free healthcare for illegal aliens. Senate Democrats’ radical demands also include $1.5 trillion in new spending and cutting $50 billion dollars in funding for rural hospitals provided by the Working Family Tax Cuts.
“Chuck Schumer’s hand-picked candidate, Radical Roy Cooper, is back to hiding in Schumer’s basement to avoid accountability from North Carolinians for prioritizing free healthcare for illegal aliens over flood insurance for millions of Americans in the middle of hurricane season, paychecks for our troops, and critical services for our veterans,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.
Roy Cooper is Chuck Schumer’s handpicked Senate candidate. Schumer’s Shutdown is:
- Threatening western NC’s tourism and recovery efforts.
- Leaving military families without pay.
- Putting law enforcement lives on the line.
- Jeopardizing flood insurance for millions of Americans during hurricane season.
- Taking away health insurance from nearly 450,000 North Carolinians.
- Threatening safety nets for Seniors such as Social Security. Nearly one in five residents in North Carolina are over 65.
- Shutting down the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, affecting around 230,000 North Carolinians on the program.
- Threatening paychecks of more than 140,000 North Carolinians and federally funded programs and services used throughout the state.
- Threatening SNAP benefits for around 1.42 million North Carolinians.
- Furloughing non-essential federal workers in North Carolina. North Carolina employs nearly 52,000 federal workers.
- Threatening vital healthcare and housing programs for veterans
- Allowing funding for Medicare patients’ treatment to expire
- Hurting farmers and ranchers who need certainty to produce our food
- Driving up food prices for America’s most needy families
Democrats are demanding $1.5 trillion in spending increases to end the shutdown and:
- Cut $50 billion in rural health care funding
- Restore Biden-era free healthcare for illegal aliens
- Expand taxpayer-funded Medicaid to unemployed, able-bodied individuals without dependents under 14 years old
- Eliminate Republican-passed fraud protections for taxpayer benefits like Medicaid and SNAP
