WWASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) told CNN’s Manu Raju he is still supporting Democrat candidate Jay Jones to be Virginia’s next Attorney General despite text messages that have surfaced of him calling for the assassination of his Republican political opponent and his children.

Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) is still fundraising with Jones and refusing to call on him to end his campaign despite mounting pressure. MSNBC and CNN have both highlighted growing calls for Democrat candidate Jay Jones to drop out of the race.

“Even CNN and MSNBC are shocked by Mark Warner’s continued loyalty to Jay Jones after he called for the murder of a political opponent and his children,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “Mark Warner has endorsed, donated to, and fundraised with Jay Jones, and is continually refusing to answer any questions about if he still supports him. This should be an easy answer, but sadly Mark Warner is choosing to stay silent instead of calling for Jay Jones to drop out of the race.”

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough said, “yeah… he should probably be forced to withdraw from the race.” Click here or the image above to watch.

On CNN’s Inside Politics, Manu Raju said, “… Mark Warner, Abigail Spanberger … they haven’t called on him to drop out.” Click here or the image above to watch the clip.
