WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Republican Senatorial Committee released a new ad today slamming Janet Mills for supporting Chuck Schumer’s government shutdown over demands to give free healthcare to illegal immigrants. Both of Maine’s Senators, Susan Collins and Angus King, voted to reopen the government.
“In Maine, Janet Mills is already using taxpayer dollars to give illegal immigrants free healthcare so it is no surprise that she supports Chuck Schumer shutting down the government to give them free healthcare nationwide,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “If elected to the Senate, you can count on Janet Mills to put healthcare for illegal immigrants over paychecks for Mainers.”

Janet Mills supports taxpayer funded healthcare for illegal aliens:
- Mills supported Senate Democrats voting to shut down the government.
- Democrats’ partisan proposal to reopen the government demands free healthcare for illegal aliens and guts the historic $50 billion investment in rural healthcare delivered by President Trump’s Working Family Tax Cuts law.
- Mills signed a bill into law in 2021 that expanded MaineCare, regardless of immigration status.
- Under Mills, “Non-citizen children” and “pregnant persons” who live in Maine are eligible for MaineCare and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
