The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released a new digital ad today slamming Chuck Schumer’s hand-picked Senate candidate, Radical Roy Cooper (D-NC), for wanting free healthcare for illegal aliens over feeding North Carolina kids. Cooper would be a sure vote for Schumer’s Shutdown which is threatening to make nearly 1.4 million North Carolinians and over 500,000 kids who rely on SNAP assistance go hungry, starting this Halloween weekend. Senate Democrats have voted 13 times to keep the government shut down.
“Radical Roy Cooper has been in lockstep with the far-left for nearly 40 years and will stand against President Trump no matter what,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “There’s no doubt Cooper would vote to rip away hot meals from over 500,000 North Carolina kids to appease the radical left and give free healthcare to illegal aliens.”

Background:
- On October 10, 2025, the Department of Agriculture sent a letter to state agencies advising state processors to “hold their November issuance files and delay transmission to State EBT vendors until further notice.” The letter stated that there were only enough funds to keep the SNAP program going through October 2025.
- Roy Cooper is hiding in Chuck Schumer’s windowless basement to avoid giving North Carolinians a clear answer on how he would vote on the government shutdown and because he’s scared of being held accountable for his failures as governor.
- Chuck Schumer said, “Every day gets better for [Democrats],” reaffirming that this shutdown is political leverage in their fight to give illegal aliens free healthcare.
- Democrats’ partisan proposal to reopen the government demands free healthcare for illegal aliens and guts the historic $50 billion investment in rural healthcare delivered by President Trump’s Working Family Tax Cuts law.
