WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-SC) released the following letter to donors warning them of what Zohran Mamdani’s victory in New York City means for Senate races in 2026. Scott highlighted policy overlap between Mamdani and Democrats in six U.S. Senate races: Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Texas.
“From New England to the South to the heartland, the picture is clear: Mamdani’s ideology is no longer fringe—it is the foundation of the Democrat Party,” Scott wrote. “These six Senate races are proof that the takeover is complete.”
“Mamdani’s rise is not the beginning of a movement. It is the confirmation that the far-left now controls the Democrat Party,” Scott closed. “If the Squad was the spark, Zohran Mamdani is the fire.”
Yesterday, ahead of Mamdani’s win, the NRSC criticized 7 Democrats who share policy agendas with Mamdani:
- Georgia’s Jon Ossoff
- Iowa’s Zach Wahls
- Maine’s Graham Platner
- Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed
- Minnesota’s Peggy Flanagan
- North Carolina’s Roy Cooper
- Texas’ James Talarico
