Roy Cooper (D-NC) crawled out of Chuck Schumer’s “windowless basement” today to bow down to the radical left and lie about Schumer’s Shutdown. The fact is Democrats are on the record saying the pain caused by the Schumer Shutdown was just political “leverage” so they could demand free healthcare for illegals.
“After 41 days of refusing to be honest with North Carolinians, Roy Cooper is still lying,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “Cooper is just like every other Democrat who would use the suffering of North Carolina families as leverage to demand free healthcare for illegals.”
Cooper has been silent on the shutdown for 40 days, refusing to take a position on votes in the Senate while North Carolina’s Senators Ted Budd (R-NC) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) repeatedly voted to reopen the government.
Democrats are on the record admitting the Schumer Shutdown is political gamesmanship:
- Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) who endorsed Cooper said: “Every day gets better for us.”
- Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said: “[If] you reopen the government, we lose our leverage.”
- Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) said: “Frankly this is our only moment of leverage…”
- Representative Katherine Clark (D-MA): Struggling families are political “leverage.”
