WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) voted today to open the federal government and ensure critical funding gets to families in need. Senate Democrats have held the federal government hostage for over 40 days now in a ridiculous effort to give illegals free healthcare.
“Senator Collins has not only voted 15 times to open the government, but she has championed legislation to ensure families receive their SNAP benefits,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “Mainers trust Susan Collins to keep doing what she always has and put their needs first, while Democrats like Janet Mills and Graham Platner support refusing to fund critical benefits and services.”
Susan Collins has been unwavering in her effort to keep the government open and working:
- Susan Collins helped introduce legislation to ensure Mainers receive their SNAP benefits and are able to purchase groceries.
- Collins proposed a 6-point plan to open the government and sent a letter to the administration pushing for SNAP funding to be continued.
- Janet Mills posted on X against the funding deal and encouraged Senate Democrats to “Fight back”.
- Graham Platner posted on X, “Senate Democrats need to hold the line”.
