WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Socialist Zohran Mamdani will be sworn in as the Mayor of New York City by none other than Bernie Sanders. Mamdani’s successful campaign has become the blueprint for radical Democrats in messy primaries across the nation.

In Texas, James Talarico is modeling his campaign after Mamdani’s in an effort to win Texas Democrats’ messy primary and Jasmine Crockett said that Democrats should take a “MasterClass” from him.

“James Talarico and Jasmine Crockett are modeling their campaigns around Zohran Mamdani’s socialist and extremist agenda in an effort to pull ahead in their messy primary. Democrats are rallying behind Mamdani’s radical, copy-cat candidates in messy primaries across the nation,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell.

James Talarico and Jasmine Crockett are modeling their campaigns after Mamdani’s:

  • Talarico said that Zohran’s campaign “was one of the most exciting” and a “template for Democrats across the country.”
  • Talarico campaigns on the redistribution of wealth.
  • Talarico does not support state or local police assisting federal immigration law enforcement.
  • Crockett called ICE agents “slave patrols.
  • Talarico was endorsed in 2024 by an organization that says police are “the ultimate agent of white supremacy.”
  • Talarico said that he will “firmly oppose any attempts” to keep biological men out of women’s bathrooms.
  • Crockett dismissed efforts to keep men out of women’s sports as a “distraction.”
  • Talarico gave an “Amen” to an interviewer saying “the right really wants is for centrist Democrats to throw trans children… under the bus. I strongly believe its nobody’s goddamn business…”
  • Talarico has claimed that “God is nonbinary.
  • Talarico called the war Hamas started a “moral disaster” for Democrats, and that naming Israel’s actions as “genocide” distracts “from the immediate goal, which is stopping the human suffering in Gaza.”
