Today is the one year anniversary of President Trump signing the Laken Riley Act into law with the support of Senate Republicans. Laken Riley was a 22-year-old nursing student who was brutally murdered in Georgia by a criminal from Venezuela who had entered the country illegally under Joe Biden.
Republicans in Congress championed the Laken Riley Act to help ensure tragedies like Laken’s murder never happen again. But Democrats including Haley Stevens voted against the common-sense measure in the House of Representatives.
“The contrast could not be more clear,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “In the Senate, Mike Rogers would work with President Trump to ensure tragedies like Laken Riley’s never happen again, while Haley Stevens, Mallory McMorrow, and Abdul El-Sayed would rather defend criminal illegal aliens.”
Michigan Democrats want to open our border:
- Abdul El-Sayed wants to abolish ICE.
- In a now deleted post, Abdul El-Sayed called U.S. border agents “white supremacists” and accused President Trump of using ICE to “terrorize neighborhoods.”
- Mallory McMorrow called President Trump’s mass deportation efforts a “boondoggle” that is “nothing more than security theater that actually makes us LESS safe.”
- Haley Stevens voted against the Working Family Tax Cuts, which made the largest investment in border security in American history.
- Haley Stevens accused President Trump of turning “our communities into war zones,” and called ICE “masked, armed, and untrained agents.”
