WASHINGTON, D.C. — Fresh off the heels of his first proxy war win against Chuck Schumer in Maine, Bernie Sanders is heading to Michigan to rally in Detroit with Abdul El-Sayed. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is releasing a new digital ad showcasing how the socialist pair are too progressive for Michigan.
Sanders-backed El-Sayed is currently locked in a messy primary with Chuck Schumer-backed Haley Stevens and the Michigan-hating Mallory McMorrow. Like Platner, El-Sayed has taken the lead on betting markets by carving his progressive lane: wanting to implement Medicare for All, supporting the Green New Deal, pushing for higher taxes, and calling to abolish ICE.
“Bernie Sanders already defeated one Schumer-preferred primary candidate, and now he’s ready to do the same in Michigan. Sanders and Abdul El-Sayed are two peas in a progressive pod desperate to implement Medicare for All, enact the Green New Deal that would decimate Michigan’s auto industry, and abolish ICE,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell.
