Welcome to Roy Cooper’s Worst of the Worst Wednesday.

Furmencio Miranda-Cortazar is an illegal from Mexico who was convicted for two counts of sexual battery against a 13-year-old child in North Carolina.

Miranda-Cortazar’s long rap sheet includes DWI, driving while his license was revoked, and a hit-and-run involving property damage.

Under then-Attorney General Roy Cooper, Miranda-Cortazar was never handed over to federal immigration authorities, allowing him to continue wreaking havoc for years.

After Miranda-Cortazar was initially arrested for sexual battery against the child in 2018, ICE issued a detainer. But because then-Governor Cooper turned North Carolina into a sanctuary state, Miranda-Cortazar was released from jail by Cooper’s Democrat ally, Sheriff Gerald Baker.

Thankfully, ICE arrested Miranda-Cortazar to await his deportation hearing.

“Roy Cooper failed to keep North Carolinians safe from illegal alien sexual predators like Miranda-Cortazar throughout his nearly 40-year-long career because he’s too weak to stand up to the radical left,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia
