Graham Platner continues to sell Mainers revisionist history on the campaign trail. New reporting reveals he quit his job as harbormaster of Sullivan, Maine—a role that was largely clerical and administrative—after just 18 months.
Platner only updated his campaign website to refer to his harbormaster role in the past tense after The Washington Free Beacon’s exclusive reporting exposed the true timeline of his work.
“The entire fabric of Graham Platner’s biography continues to fall apart under even modest scrutiny. Mainers deserve authenticity—not Platner’s perverted past, inflated résumé, and ‘working-class’ rebrand,” said Bernadette Breslin, NRSC national press secretary.
Platner has repeatedly tried to sell Mainers a manufactured “working-class” image that collapses under the weight of his own lies:
He has also tried to conceal a $200,000 loan from his father, a prominent local attorney, that he used to purchase his home. Platner falsely claimed that he relied on Veterans Affairs’ benefits to purchase the property.
He claims he’s “never been close to money and power,” yet attended an elite Connecticut boarding school that costs upwards of $75,000 a year; enrolled in George Washington University when the school’s tuition was the most expensive in the country; and is the grandson of a wealthy, world-renowned architect known for designing $20,000 chairs.
