Senate Republicans voted to fully fund law enforcement today, ensuring that ICE and Border Patrol will have the resources they need to protect American communities and keep our borders secure. There’s no doubt soft-on-crime Roy Cooper would vote with Democrats to defund law enforcement.

“From releasing at least 3,500 criminals from prison early to protecting violent illegals, Roy Cooper’s soft-on-crime policies have made North Carolina less safe.” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia. “While Cooper sides with criminals at every turn, Michael Whatley will fight alongside President Trump in the U.S. Senate to keep North Carolina families safe.”

Background

  • Cooper fled the Governor’s mansion during the George Floyd riots and only returned to march with rioters — putting law enforcement lives in danger.

  • Cooper vetoed three pieces of legislation requiring sheriffs to cooperate with federal immigration authorities — making North Carolina a sanctuary state and protecting violent illegals from deportation.

  • Democrats have repeatedly tried to defund the police by blocking funding for immigration enforcement—but Republicans are united in refusing to let Democrats hold public safety hostage.

  • Democrats pandering to their rabid base by claiming they’re blocking law enforcement funding are lying. Thanks to Republican leadership, ICE and Border Patrol will have even more funding to keep Americans safe.
