Roy Cooper recently claimed in an ad that “insurance companies have gotten away with far too much for far too long.” Cooper says he will “take them on.”

But Cooper has taken at least $400,000 in campaign cash from the insurance industry.

Big insurance got away with a lot during Cooper’s nearly 40 years as a career politician.

  • Healthcare costs skyrocketed to the highest in the nation.
  • Rural hospitals shut down.
  • North Carolinians lost access to plans.
  • Cooper admitted that taxpayers would have to foot the bill for his Medicaid expansion—costing hundreds of millions of dollars.

Now, Cooper wants to repeal the largest investment in North Carolina’s rural healthcare system in history.

“Roy Cooper has been bending the knee to his big insurance donors for nearly 40 years, and North Carolinians are paying the price,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia
