New reporting from Axios shows violent crime continuing to plummet across American cities, including Raleigh, N.C.—which saw the second-largest drop in homicides nationwide last year following Democrat Roy Cooper’s departure from the governor’s mansion in January of 2025.
“Democrats like Roy Cooper have embraced soft-on-crime policies that encourage violent offenders to repeat their heinous acts. Families are safer when Republicans keep criminals behind bars,” said NRSC National Press Secretary Bernadette Breslin.
This new report builds on data released last month, showing another historic low in crime under President Trump and Senate Republicans’ leadership—even in blue states where Democrats have undermined law enforcement and fueled dangerous defund-the-police rhetoric.
By the numbers:
- Homicides fell 17.2%.
- Robberies dropped 16.6%.
- Rapes declined 6.2%.
- Aggravated assaults fell 5.7%.
