Thanks to Senator Sullivan’s Alaska Opportunity Act and no taxes on tips, the average workers saw an over $1,300 tax cut. That’s real relief for the 90% of claimants who earned under $100,000.

Tens of thousands of Alaskans rely on tips. Tipped workers are crucial to Alaska’s massive tourism industry. Alaska also has the highest percentage of veterans per capita, and across the country, around 400,000 veterans work in tipped occupations.

But Mary Peltola wants to tax hardworking Alaskans’ tips, raising taxes by over $1,300 per year on waiters, hair stylists and bartenders who depend on tips to pay the bills.

“Mary Peltola cheered on Democrats’ reckless spending that squeezed hardworking Alaskans’ pocketbooks for years, and now she wants to tax their tips to give free healthcare to illegal aliens. Peltola puts Alaskans last every time,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.
