According to Politico, Warren, who also serves as a chief deputy to Harry Reid, made the endorsement in conjunction with the left-wing political group Democracy for America:
“Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Democracy for America, a national progressive political organization, backed two Democratic Senate candidates this morning: California state Attorney General Kamala Harris and former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.”
“Nevadans should judge Catherine Cortez Masto by the company she keeps,” said NRSC spokesman Greg Blair. “Harry Reid’s handpicked candidate is collecting endorsements from radical liberals, sending a clear signal to Nevada families that she’ll be just another vote for the broken status quo in Washington.”
BACKGROUND:
Harry Reid Tapped Elizabeth Warren As A Top Deputy Weeks After Her Election: “Harry Reid, the incoming Senate minority leader, had engaged in private talks with the Massachusetts freshman to create a special leadership post for the former Harvard professor, and the leadership elections Thursday solidified the new Democratic team. The title will be strategic policy adviser to the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee — a specially created position that puts Warren into a much more prominent position in the Senate hierarchy.” (Manu Raju and John Bresnahan, “Reid Taps Warren As Envoy To Liberals,” Politico, 11/12/14)
Democracy For America Is A Left-Wing Advocacy Group Founded By Howard Dean: “Howard Dean has a vision of using the Internet and other organizing tools — the same ones that propelled his Democratic presidential campaign — to push his party back to the dominant position in national politics. The candidate, who dropped out of the presidential race a month ago without a win, has developed plans and an organization —Democracy for America— to recruit progressive candidates to run for Congress, city council and state legislatures.” (Elizabeth M. Gillespie, “Dean Promises His Group Will Raise Money, Recruit Candidates,” Associated Press, 3/18/04)
